Please read the adopting terms below before inquiring one of my guinea pigs!

This page will be updated soon. Guinea pigs free for adoption can also be found in the section Litters or in the German section for adoption: Vermittlungstiere.
Adopting terms
1. My guinea pigs will neither be placed in keepings together with rabbits nor in keepings without at least one other guinea pig.
2. I will not give my guinea pigs to people that keep them in small cages. Minimum cage size is 0,5 m² per female piggy. Male guinea pigs need 1 m² per piggy. Minimum cage size should me 2 m² (21,5 ft²).
3. The cage needs several hiding places and the guinea pigs must not eat dried food. A healthy diet consists of grass and low-calcium hay in first place, they also need a lot of fresh food like vegetables, fruits and edible wild herbs.
4. Baby guinea pigs will not move out before reaching a weight of 300 g. Guinea pigs that will be kept without an adult guinea pig will not move out before being aged 12 weeks. They need a good socialization and they will only get it when they have an adult teacher. Baby boars that are going to be kept with other boars will only move into keepings with at least one adult boar. A good socialization is very important and absolutely necessary to prevent dangerous fights during puberty.
5. Guinea pigs that travel internationally will not move out before being 8 weeks old.
6. Baby boars will all be neutered before sexual maturity. Usually this happens when they reach a weight of 250 g (3 weeks old). So breeders that are interested in my boars better let me know as soon as possible. ;)
7. When you are a non-breeder and you want to get one of my Swiss Teddies, I would like to see pictures of your guinea pigs’ cage. I just want to make sure my guinea pigs will have a nice new home.
8. Transport I know that probably no one of you will come to Germany just to pick up his or her new friends, but that does not mean you will never have the chance to get a Swiss Teddy. There are a few pet transport organizations that help sending pets inernationally and even overseas. So if you are a breeder or a guinea pig lover from another country, it is also possible to finally get a Swiss Teddy to your country. But keep in mind that you have to pay the transport costs on your own and that it might be very expensive. The transport has to be organized by you, but I can help doing the research for it. ;) Prices differ a lot. I heard someone’s guinea pig transport cost “only” a few hundred dollars, whereas Relocation organizations costs for their door-to-door services are way higher for sending a small pet internationally. So be prepared for high prices and better do a little cost research when you are interested. A good international transport organization is ILG Interline (Hamburg, Germany). They have an animal lounge for the night with some vets that take care of them before they travel overseas. You can either send ILG an inquiry for getting the transport costs or you can ask me to do so for you. ;) Of course I will tell you my whole address, if you ask for it. Please also keep in mind that there might be other documents that are needed for importing guinea pigs to your country (health certificates etc.). Pet transports inside Germany, to Austria and to the Netherlands are generally possible and are going to be booked by me. Same works for pet transports to Prague (CZE), Bozen (ITA) and Budapest (UNG).
9. Guinea pig prices need to be inquired. The price for the guinea pig itself has to be payed in advance, if you cannot come to Germany to pick it up.
10. My guinea pigs are excluded from warranty and replacement.
11. By adopting one of my guinea pigs you agree to all the adoption terms mentioned above.
